Advanced Candle Magick By Raymond Buckland- Book review

Buy Online

This book covers a wide variety of topics related to Candle Magick and, I feel, it is a great resource for any practitioner.

I highly recommend this for anyone who has some experience with Candle Magick, as well as those who may be newer to this type of work.

The book go into some of the basics of Magick, and other types of tools, right at the beginning. So if you are a beginner, don’t let the title intimidate you. There is plenty of information in the first few chapters to get you up to speed!

There are also few simple illustrations but they are well drawn and provide enough information to be useful.

From the web:

Seize control of your destiny with the simple but profound practice of Advanced Candle Magick. Ray Buckland’s first book on candle magick Practical Candleburning Rituals  explained the basic techniques of directing positive forces and  making things happen.

Welcome and Blessed Be!

This blog is dedicated to the two types of craft that I hold most dear to my heart.

Arts and Crafts

Something Crafty hands

Arts and Crafts has always been a huge part of who I am. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am an avid crafter. My love of crafting is usually one of the first things people pick up on when meeting me.

I picked up crafting from my Mother, my Grandmother, and my Great Grandmother, all of whom had a huge roll in encouraging my creativity and imagination as a child. I learned painting and drawing from my Mom, sewing and quilting from my Grandmother, and crochet and needlepoint from my Great Grandmother.

Other types of craft projects came later in life, mostly after the boom of crafting DIY videos on YouTube. Needless to say, when I decided to sit down and write a blog, crafting was one of the first topics that came to mind.

Witchcraft and Paganism

Something Crafty ravens

I was born and raised in a very small, very religious town in the American South West. Yet, despite the lack of religious diversity, or any diversity to be honest, I was always drawn to a certain way of thinking and feeling that didn’t quite align with the religious views of those around me.

The culture of my childhood was surrounded by superstition. Talk of witches and demons was common place among the elder members of the community, and were always present in the cautionary tales our grandparents told us. As children we were made to be fearful of the evil spirits and “brujas” who sought to steal us away in the night. I, of course, was always more fascinated by the idea of witchcraft and “spirits” than fearful, and this made me the “weird” kid in most social situations.

When I was thirteen everything changed. Internet access became more accessible in our little town and students could finally access the internet for free in the class rooms, at the community college, or at the local library. Chat rooms were all the rage, and in them I was introduced to a whole new world of like minded individuals. People of all ages, races, genders, and religious views whom I could speak with freely and openly about the energies I felt pulling me towards what I would eventually come to know as the pagan path.

This Blog

I cannot say for sure whether this blog will be mostly crafting with some Pagan influence, or mostly Pagan with some crafting thrown in. But, whatever it evolves into, consider it an extension of my midlife journey to reclaim my truth and relearn how to live my best life. I invite you all to join me on this path of self-discovery and expression, and I hope that this blog is met with open minds and understanding.

Blessed Be,

Raven Shadow
